Linkin Park Drop Surprise New Single ‘Guilty All The Same’

Just days after announcing their massive North American Carnivores tour with Thirty Seconds To Mars and AFI, nu-metal vanguards Linkin Park have dropped a surprise new single. Guilty All The Same is a return to the band’s rap-metal roots, with a guest spot from hip-hop legend Rakim.

The track comes at the tail-end of a lengthy hiatus, during which frontman Chester Bennington took over from Scott Weiland as the vocalist for 90s alt-rock gods Stone Temple Pilots. The band’s long-awaited sixth studio album is as yet untiled, but is expected to drop at some point this winter.

The new single was released via Shazam and has been described by band member/producer Mike Shinoda as, “a good look into the DNA” of the new album. Speaking to Radio.com, Shinoda said it comes from a batch of songs “louder” and “more visceral than…anything we’ve done recently.”

Speaking to US radio station KROQ, Shinoda also reserved some praise for the track’s illustrious feature, iconic emcee Rakim, saying, “If you get into the nitty-gritty of his rhyme pattern and the topic in this song, it’s bananas what he is doing. He’s on the some Steve Vai shit, vocally.”
