The Rolling Stones Postpone Australian Tour

After a day of speculation, The Rolling Stones have announced they will be postponing their 14 On Fire Australian tour, following the unexpected death of Mick Jagger’s partner L’Wren Scott yesterday.

The cancellation of the band’s Perth show, slated to take place tonight at the Perth Arena, was confirmed late yesterday with punters still left unsure about the fate of the Stones’ other scheduled gigs in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Hanging Rock in Victoria, Brisbane and Auckland.

Promoter Frontier Touring issued a statement this morning announcing that the rest of the tour will be postponed. “The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott,” reads the statement. “Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement.”

“The Rolling Stones are planning to reschedule these postponed shows at a later date Australia/New Zealand promoters ask ticket holders to please hold on to their tickets until further notice,” continues the statement.

Scott, 49, had been dating Jagger, 70, for over a decade. A spokesperson for Mick Jagger yesterday said the singer is “completely shocked and devastated” by the news.

The band had touched down in the country just this week, releasing a short video in anticipation of their first tour in Australia since the A Bigger Bang tour in 2006.

According to Frontier, a new schedule of dates is currently being devised and will be announced as soon as possible. We will bring you more news on this as it comes to hand.
