John Newman 2014 Australian Tour Support Announced

Soulful 23-year-old Yorkshire crooner John Newman has announced he will be joined by Melbourne nine-piece Saskwatch on his Australian tour, which kicks off at the Palace Theatre next month. The critically lauded band will be hot on the heels of their highly anticipated second album, Nose Dive.

Since 2009, Saskwatch have been developing a reputation as one of the country’s most talented and consistently electrifying and entertaining live bands, having taken stages alongside soul veterans like Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Maceo Parker, and the legendary Earth, Wind and Fire.

They’ve even managed to wow audiences abroad, playing sets at the UK’s famous Glastonbury festival and Spain’s BlackisBack, in addition to appearances at prestigious homegrown events like Falls, Meredith, and Golden Plains. The band is currently gearing up for a set at Bluesfest 2014.

They’ll be joining up-and-comer Newman, whom Music Feeds recently spoke to for our podcast. “I started off in Leeds with a little acoustic guitar playing in front of ten people and now I’m doing gigs in front of two thousand people with a full band and full production. It feels incredible,” he said.

“The whole family comes to my shows, from the young daughter to the grandma,” added Newman. “That’s incredible for me. The last time I came to Australia I was treated so well by the people, it was incredible… I can’t wait to come and perform as a way of saying thank-you as an artist.”
