Jack White Announces New Album ‘Lazaretto’, Debuts Track ‘High Ball Stepper’

Jack White has announced to the world a new solo album, titled Lazaretto, to be released into the stratosphere this June via his own label Third Man Records. The album follows up White’s 2012 solo debut, Blunderbuss. To sweeten the deal, the former White Stripes frontman has dropped a blistering new teaser track, High Ball Stepper.

The track, which you can check out below, is a near four-minute scorching, instrumental, bluesy screamer which perfectly encapsulates the signature elements of White’s sound. Explosive guitar riffs, scratchy analog production and foot-stoping percussion, sporadicly interrupted by a twinkling piano arrangements. It’s accompanied by a trippy video of bouncing, vibrating paint that’s being propelled by the vibrations from a blaring speaker.

A pre-order of a special limited edition copy of Lazaretto is available by signing up for the Third Man Records’ Vault, open until April 30th. The Vault edition of Lazaretto features the album pressed on blue-and-white vinyl, a fold-out poster, a classic National Archives photo and a 7-inch record featuring demo versions of two cuts, Alone in My Home and Entitlement. The package also includes a bonus 40-page hardcover book complete with lyrics, musical notation and photos.

White already has a handful of festival dates lined up for the coming year, including stops at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo. His other group, The Dead Weather will also return with a new album in 2015, and, according to Rolling Stone, will release a series of two-song sets throughout this year via Third Man.
