Triple j have today revealed their new radio station, dubbed Double J with former presenter Myf Warhurst leading the hosting talents. The new station is a rebranding of Dig Music, which the public broadcaster acquired in October last year.
The station’s new name is a nod to triple j’s original handle “Double Jay” and is emblematic of the new station’s directive – focussing on new music, while celebrating the iconic tunes of the past. With access to the triple j interview and sound archives, the new station hopes to offer a completely unique service to the Australian radio landscape.
“One of the best things any of us working in the media can do is to deliver something that audiences genuinely want,” says ABC Director of Radio Kate Dundas. “We recognise people want to stay connected to music and discover new artists as they go through life – that’s the simple aim of Double J.”
Former Spicks and Specks team captain Myf Warhurst, will kick off the very first show on Wednesday, 30th April from 12pm, where she will also announce her fellow presenters. She’ll then host a daily music show from 11-3pm weekdays. Her program will be music driven, focusing on new releases, talking to musicians and dipping into the vast triple j library of artist interviews and live music recordings.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Double J team,” says Warhurst. “It’s a really exciting time to come on board with such a unique project. It’s a brand new platform where music lovers, like me, can discover new music and enjoy some old faves as well. I can’t wait to be a part of that.”
Double J will remain a digital station and from April 30th listeners can tune in via the ABC Radio App, online at the soon to be launched Double J website or on their digital radio or television.

While it won’t be a throwback to the music of the original Double J, it will be a station that takes the best elements of triple j’s past – a name, a presenter and the incredible archives, thrown headlong into the future with the best new sounds around.”
