Aussies Among Most Expensive Record Store Day Resales

Another Record Store Day has come and gone and hordes of happy music fans are now caressing their respective swag with a mixture of glee and pain from the right hand jab it took to cleave that Flaming Lips record from the bespectacled hipster who, if we’re speaking truthfully, saw it first.

And while debate rages on about just how beneficial Record Store Day now is to the humble independent labels it first wanted to ameliorate, there’s no denying that the ones who reap the most benefit from that special day are the vultures who sell the items for egregious amounts on eBay.

To help us quantify just how much of an opportunist scumbag a person can be, Stereogum have kindly listed the 10 most expensive Record Store Day 2014 flips that have so far been listed on eBay. Of course, it’s important to note that since publication, plenty more items have likely been listed.

Readers can check out the full list below, which includes releases by Cake, R.E.M., LCD Soundsystem, the Pixies, Dave Matthews Band, and even our very own King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, whose Head On / Pill release came in at a very respectable (kind of) third place.
