Emily Eavis Comments On Oasis’ Glastonbury Fate

While a cryptic — and according to some, promising — tweet sent out by former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher last week may have lead some UK bookies to suspend betting on the Britpop giants as Glastonbury headliners, the hopes of fans have now been dashed by co-organiser Emily Eavis.

Last Thursday, the younger Gallagher tweeted out the name of his former band letter-by-letter, following-up with a final tweet that read, “OASIS LG.” Despite comments by former Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs that this was merely to mark a pub-trip by the two rockers, it saw bookies Ladbrokes and Paddy Power close betting on who will be Glastonbury’s Saturday headliner.

Now, asked via Twitter to deny that the Manchester legends would be making an appearance at Worthy Farm this June before Glastonbury’s tickets are released, Emily Eavis, youngest daughter of Glastonbury founder and organiser Michael Eavis, replied simply, “Oasis aren’t playing this year.”

Michael Eavis himself recently assured interviewers and hard rock fans that Led Zeppelin would reunite and play Glastonbury in his lifetime, a reunion fans are now also unlikely to see, with frontman Robert Plant recently stating there is “zero” chance of another Led Zeppelin reunion.
