“It’s like feeling around in the dark. It’s like having ten hands and trying to hold on to ten different things at once,” says Chet Faker of his creative process. Speaking for the latest Music Feeds Podcast, we asked Chet what the vibe has been like since the release of his new album.
“The vibe is palpable [laughs] It feels good. It’s weird. Bittersweet, because when you release an album to other people it’s no longer yours, and it’s such a personal record, you know? But it’s also amazing to be able to share something with the people who support me,” Chet explained to us.
When we asked Chet if the album was a personal statement or a snapshot of a time and place, he told us that he aimed for both. “Traditionally an EP is usually what shows the full spectrum or breadth of where you might go and an album is a defining statement, I’ve done somewhere in between.”
“The thing is, the person I am today could be completely different next year or tomorrow. We’re not the same person for our whole lives, that’s the misunderstanding. So it is who I am and it is also a snapshot of who I was over the last two years, but I might be a totally different person next year.”
