Listen To Linkin Park’s Heavy New Track ‘Wastelands’

Following the release of the sprawling Until It’s Gone, nu-metal mainstays and possible festival narcs Linkin Park have unveiled a new track from their upcoming album The Hunting Party titled Wastelands, which bears the return-to-roots approach that the band have recently been discussing.

Speaking to Noisey back in April, vocalist Mike Shinoda said the new album is a set of songs to inspire the band members’ “15-year-old selves” and a reaction to the current, stale musical landscape, which he describes as being dominated by bands who sound like Haim and Chrvches.

“I turn on the rock station in LA and it sounds like Disney commercial music,” Shinoda told Noisey. “I’m confused by that. The dude from Foster the People was literally a jingle writer. No disrespect, but for me to make that stuff was [out of the question]… We wanted to impress our inner teenager.”

The band’s highly anticipated new album is set to feature a host of collaborations, including appearances from Helmet frontman Page Hamilton, System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian, and a more recently announced collab with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello.
