According to a recent poll, music pirates spend the most money on purchasing music through legitimate sources. This is evidence that governments’ and music companies’ attempts to stem illegal downloading are ill founded.
Recently Shakira, she of the jubbly Latin bubblies, said that illegal filesharing brings her closer to her fans, while Lily Allen had a very public tantrum that eventuated in her claiming she would never make another album. It is obvious that the issue is divisive. Hopefully more studies will be done to show that the current system of music trade is a dinosaur, and maybe someone will come up with an equitable solution.
