Watch Josh Homme Play Brand-New Song, ‘Villains Of Circumstance’

Josh Homme, frontman of American rock group Queens Of The Stone Age, has debuted a new, acoustic track with the very QOTSA-esque title Villains Of Circumstance.

According to Consequence of Sound, Homme played the track during an acoustic set at London’s Meltdown Festival.

An attentive listen proves that Homme is far from losing his musical touch. The song is draped in his dark Homme-isms, with some graceful guitar work and some powerful lyrics. One choice line rolls, “It’s so hard to explain, but easy to feel / I need you now, nothing is real / Save me from the villains of circumstance, before I make a mistake.”

The song’s origin remains unclear. Homme revealed in March this year that his main priority after wrapping up the QOTSA tour was to focus on the next Eagles of Death Metal album, but it’s unlikely Homme would play an EODM cut solo.

QOTSA’s most recent release is 2013’s …Like Clockwork, which was supported by a co-headlining Australian tour with industrial heavyweights Nine Inch Nails.
