Australian DJ And “House Legend” In Critical Condition In Bali

Well-known and beloved Sydney DJ Jack McCord is in a critical condition after being rescued by Bali locals following a horrific motorcycle accident. McCord’s family is appealing for urgent help in raising funds for a medevac flight to bring the Bang Gang affiliate back to his native Australia.

According to The Daily Telegraph, McCord, a global ambassador for the renowned house music label Hed Kandi, shattered most of the bones in the left side of his body in the accident, which occurred on the outskirts of Seminyak Friday morning. It’s not yet clear what caused the accident.

Friends of the DJ have told the Telegraph he did not receive basic medical care for more than two hours and was only helped after villagers came across the crash site. Close friend Shaun Doyle, who is organising efforts to bring McCord back to Australia, said the DJ was lucky to be alive.

“He was found by some local guys and they literally carried him to a village hospital. They didn’t actually think he was alive,” said Doyle. “He suffered some pretty big injuries, apparently he’s got a shattered pelvis. I couldn’t tell you how many broken ribs… some head injuries, a lacerated lung.”

“So from that the surgeons operated on him basically straight away and that’s when we didn’t know which way it was going to go,” he added. Friends and family of the DJ are seeking donations for a medevac flight through crowdfunding site YouCaring, and have currently raised over $60,000.

“Right now we’re talking to CareFlight. We’ve managed to try and find an intermediary broker who can essentially help with the money between now and whenever,” said Mr Doyle. A fundraiser was held at Sydney nightclub Goldfish earlier today for fans to “show support to a Sydney house legend.”
