Tickets To Black Sabbath, Faith No More, Motörhead Accidentally Sold For $4.52

Due to a technical slip-up by promotions company AEG Live, thousands of music fans were able to purchase heavily discounted tickets to see lineups performing during the UK’s British Summer Time festival. Just how discounted? Tickets went out the door for £2.50, or about $4.52 Australian.

And what will these lucky punters be getting for little more than the cost of a Slurpee? Well, Neil Young, McBusted, and Arcade Fire, just to name a few of the acts performing during this year’s BST festival. However, the one that really has us green with envy is a lineup featuring Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Faith No More, Motörhead, and Soulfly all performing on the same day.

Tickets to the BST shows are normally priced at between £50 to £295, but according to the International Business Times, an AEG Live email sent to “companies that are connected with the promoter” detailing how to acquire heavily discounted tickets leaked and spread on social media.

Punters quickly moved in to scoop-up tickets for next to nothing, and before you protest that there’s no way ticket agents or event organisers will let the opportunistic punters keep those tickets, think again – ticketing company AXS has confirmed that all tickets purchased for £2.50 will be honoured.

Though it was initially feared that “anyone who hasn’t purchased from a work email address that isn’t associated with the company will have [tickets] cancelled,” festival organisers have since confirmed via their official Twitter channel that all of the discounted tickets will remain valid.

“A leaked staff offer meant the public could purchase reduced tickets. This has now stopped. Tickets purchased remain valid,” they wrote. The incident partly recalls the debacle that surrounded this year’s Splendour In The Grass ticket on-sale, when another technical disruption caused by an “unauthorised user” saw fans slammed with excess credit card fees of up to $1,000 per ticket.
