Tool’s Adam Jones Shares “New” Music

Adam Jones, guitarist of Californian rock group Tool, has shared what he has described as “a new part” in the band’s song Hooker With A Penis, which appeared on their 1996 album Ænima. That’s right – a new part for a song which is almost 20 years old.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Jones both excited and disappointed fans by sharing the “new” old material. “Before the last tour we wrote a new part in the middle of Hooker to play live,” Jones wrote.

“I often record new riffs & ideas on my phone to remember them right after the jam. Enjoy,” he said. Whilst the riff is pure Tool in sound, it has left some fans even more disillusioned by the band’s lack of new material in recent years.

“Cool, a new riff to a 20 year old song while it’s nearly 10 years since the last album,” one fan wrote on Facebook. Watch Jones play the riff in question, below.

In April this year it was confirmed that Tool had returned to the studio to work on the highly-anticipated follow-up to their 2006 album 10,000 days. The confirmation followed an out-of-context joke and an April Fools prank which also confused fans around the world.
