Stream Antemasque’s Self-Titled Debut Album

Antemasque, the latest project to be given musical birth to by The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, have unveiled their self-titled debut album. Featuring contributions from Volta drummer David Elitch and Flea, the album is available for streaming in its entirety below.

The band originally intended to release only 4AM — one of several collaborations with the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist — but due to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans, followed up the release with the post-punk slam of Hangin’ in the Lurch and the Mars Volta-esque People Forget.

“If the whole thing looked unplanned, that’s because it was,” explained the band in a statement released via Rolling Stone back in April. According to the group, “the anticipation of what the reaction from fans and critics would be was very real for us with every new song we put out.”

While it was initially reported that Flea was a member of a new ex-Mars Volta supergroup, the artist himself disputed this on Twitter, saying he simply “played on some tracks” with his friends “for love.”
