Lana Del Rey Teases 2014 Australian Tour

American singer Lana Del Rey is contemplating an Australian summer tour, although she’s not set on any dates just yet.

In a recent interview with triple j‘s Richard Kingsmill Del Rey remained stoic on unveiling specific plans but revealed that she’s thinking about touring at the end of 2014, just in time for the Australian summer. “I’m thinking about at the end of this year,” Del Rey said. “I’m not entirely sure yet.”

This could put her in the running for Australian summer music festivals, and a likely contender is Falls Festival. The newly announced Beyond The Valley festival on Phillip Island is set to cater to only 12,000 people.

The singer also discussed how she came to rediscover her love for music through Dan Auerbach, the Black Keys frontman who produced her new studio album, Ultraviolence.

“The thing about Dan was that he was interested in me, and he was interested in the record, and he made me feel interesting again,” Del Rey said. “Sometimes it’s down to you, and sometimes it’s down to another person, so for me it was about another person this time.”

Del Rey also discussed the copious amounts of media attention her words seem to gather, especially following her “I wish I was dead already” comment, which led to some reactionary tweets by Del Rey and a plea from Francis Bean Cobain to “stop romanticising death”.

Del Rey commented directly on how it felt to have some people not take her seriously, saying, “I don’t even really know why it bothered me. It wasn’t a personal thing. I wanted to make sure that the music was okay. I wanted the stories in the songs to be intact, and when people have their own impressions about how you got to where you got to it can change their mind about the music.

“Sometimes it’s hard to listen to the words when you’re thinking about the person. I kind of felt my own story was in the way.”
