Watch Weird Al Yankovic And His Tacky Mates Parody Pharrell’s ‘Happy’

The music world’s perennial parodist, Weird Al Yankovic, is at it again, releasing a new track called Tacky which pokes fun at Pharrell Wiliams‘ 2013 hit, Happy.

In the all-singing and all-dancing single-shot clip for Tacky (below), Weird Al begins proceeding in an appropriately tacky ’60s-inspired get-up, singing, “It might seem crazy wearin’ stripes of Prada. I Instagram every meal I’ve had.”

The clip features some perfectly tacky cameos from comedians Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black, who makes the most of his time on screen by twerking out in some overly colourful clothing.

American actor Eric Stonestreet also makes an appearance, as Weird Al sings in praise of “belts with suspenders”, “sandals with socks”, “pink-sequined Crocs”, an “Ed Hardy shirt with fluorescent orange pants” and a resume “printed in Comic Sans”.

Tacky is the first track to be released from Weird Al’s forthcoming album Mandatory Fun, and the Grammy Award-winning comedic songwriter is set to release a new video each day for the next 8 days. Aside from Pharrell’s Happy, the album will also parody Robin Thicke’s song Blurred Lines (Weird Al’s version is called Word Crimes), Lorde’s Royals (Foil) and Imagine DragonsRadioactive (Inactive).
