Ne Obliviscaris Smash Australian Crowdfunding Record

Melbourne’s very own “progressive/extreme/melodic metal (with violin)” band, Ne Obliviscaris, have crushed the Australian record for the most money raised in a music-related project on crowd-funding site Pozible, after smashing their $40,000 price to fund a world tour.

Ne Obliviscaris, who were the first band to be confirmed for the Soundwave 2015 lineup, have surpassed the previous Pozible music crowd-funding record, which was held by Eskimo Joe who sourced $63,177 in funds for a studio album. Ne Obliviscaris’ tally continues to surpass that milestone, and there are still 45 days left to pledge to them at the time of writing.

“What can we say… our minds are blown,” the band told their Facebook followers. “I know we’ve already said this a lot lately… but thank you all so much for your incredible support.”

The speed at which Ne Obliviscaris’ fan base has supported the band has been incredible. Launched on Monday, 30th June, the band’s Pozible campaign set to raise $40,000 for a world tour taking in Europe, North America, India, Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, South East Asia, and Australia. The campaign surpassed its target within 38 hours.

Those who pledge over $1,000 to Ne Obliviscaris’ campaign will receive some unique rewards, including instruments belonging to the band’s bassist and drummer, as well as the chance to name a forthcoming EP which will celebrate the group’s super-successful Pozible campaign. Other less expensive rewards are also available.

Ne Obliviscaris are also readying a new studio album for release later this year. The record will follow the group’s 2012 debut Portal Of I.

Pozible co-founder and director, Rick Chen, shared his excitement for the wide range of music projects which have found a home on the crowd-funding site, saying, “We are thrilled to see a growing number of music projects successfully reaching their target on Pozible and love the diversity of our audience and their tastes in music.”
