Eye-Opening Mini-Doco Explores ‘The Truth About Money In Music’

What is ‘selling out’? How much does a band make from releasing an album? How long does a band have to go at it until they can just break even? These are some of the questions that filmmaker Dan Graetz has explored in his illuminating new mini-documentary, The Truth About Money In Music.

Funded in part through the Future Legends initiative launched by Jack Daniel’s — and remaining very upfront about the partnership — Graetz conducts interviews with Australian artists sitting at every tier of the Aussie music industry hierarchy to try and find some answers his questions.

The doco, which readers should check out below, features thoughts and opinions from singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke, James Tidswell from Violent Soho, rapper Remi, electronic maestro KLP, Brisbane stalwarts The Cairos, fellow Brisbanites Hey Geronimo, and many more.
