Coldplay Already Working On Their Next Album, Planning Tour

Though they only released their sixth album in May, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed the band are already working on a follow-up and hope to get Rihanna involved. The Barbadian singer previously worked with the group on the single Princess Of China from 2011’s Mylo Xyloto.

“We knew we wanted to make this thing called Ghost Stories, and then make something else,” said Martin in a recent interview with US radio station Fresh 102.7 (via NME). “Worst answer of all time,” the frontman continued, “but we have an idea, then we’re gonna go on tour after that.”

Word of an upcoming tour comes as promising news to fans of the group, who played a one-off Australian show in June. According to NME, during the band’s first of two nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall later that month, Martin told fans the gigs would be their “last shows for a while.”

Martin also remarked on working with Rihanna during the interview, saying, “I love being in the studio with Rihanna. It wasn’t necessarily with… I was working for her. I don’t think she even asked, I just said, ‘Please can I try something?'” Asked if the pop superstar would appear on Coldplay’s next album, he said, “I hope so, yeah. I have a really nice song which… maybe, I hope so.”

During the band’s one-night-only performance at the Enmore Theatre, the band collaborated with our very own pop princess, Kylie Minogue. The singer led the band through Where The Wild Roses Grow, her 1995 duet with Nick Cave, and her 2001 hit Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
