Death From Above 1979 Bring Heavy Back With New Song ‘Government Trash’

A hard-riffing new song from Toronto dance-punks Death From Above 1979 has surfaced online after the band handed out CDs to fans at a recent performance. Titled Government Trash, the track features on the band’s highly-anticipated second album The Physical World, which will be released in September.

As Consequence of Sound reports, DFA handed out the CD copies of Government Trash at an intimate warm-up gig last Thursday night at the Troubadour Club in Los Angeles. The band also performed the song Right On, Frankenstein! live for the first time.

Government Trash (below) is an energetic and propulsive track with powerful vocals, erratic guitars and pummeling percussion. It’s noticeably heavier than The Physical World‘s lead single Trainwreck 1979, which went for more of a dance-rock vibe.
