Watch Foo Fighters’ Horror Ice Bucket Challenge

Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters may have just delivered the most elaborate ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video yet, taking the viral charity stunt to a whole new level by reenacting the classic prom scene from the 1976 high-school horror film Carrie.

In the video, which you can and must watch below, Grohl dons a prom dress, tiara and corsage, nobly taking on the role of protagonist Carrie, while drummer Taylor Hawkins is the hapless prom king.

Overcome by joy at being crowned prom queen, Grohl’s happiness quickly dissipates thanks to the machinations of his mischievous band mates Pat Smear and Nate Mendel. Only, in their version of the classic Carrie scene, instead of pigs blood, Grohl is doused in iced water.

The video even incorporates footage from the original movie. Zac Brown Band actually nominated the Foo Fighters for the ALS fundraising stunt, and now Grohl is challenging Carrie star John Travolta, Carrie writer Stephen King and Jack Black.

The viral Ice Bucket Challenge sensation began as a means to raise both money and awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Motor Neurone Disease, which is a fatal and rapidly progressive disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. There is currently no cure.

As well as countless celebrities, other alt-rockers have jumped in on the challenge, including newly-named Soundwave 2015 act Fall Out Boy, Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready as well as Weird Al Yankovic. According to Spin, after Vedder remained stoic during his drenching he nominated actor Tim Robbins, The Boss Bruce Springsteen and, following orders from his daughter, Niall Horan of One Direction.
