We Could Hear Brand-New Faith No More At Soundwave

Influential Mike Patton-fronted genre-pushers Faith No More could be preparing to debut more brand-new material at Soundwave 2015, after the group’s bassist Billy Gould revealed that the band are “considering doing something new” with their music.

Speaking with Classic Rock magazine (Via Blabbermouth), Gould has said that Faith No More may begin work on a new album in the near future, suggesting that “to do something creative would be a really good thing to do”.

Gould explained that the band want to shift things around a bit, saying, “We’re not going to go into a room and bang out a bunch of songs just to put something out; it has to to be right.” Gould also made clear the band are still on good terms, despite the band’s disillusion, which followed shortly after the release of their last album, 1997’s Album Of The Year.

“Our relationships among ourselves are really positive at the moment,” Gould said. “We’re all at that stage. I mean, we’re still the same people and there’s still the same shit going on, but I think maybe we’re a bit more appreciative of one another than we were fifteen years ago… I think we still have a lot of potential to do really good things, and I think our heads, musically speaking, are in a really good space.”

It appears that whilst Gould feels a certain positivity emanating from the band, he might have to spur them on. “If anything is to come out of this, I’ll probably have to be one of the instigators,” he said. “But everybody has to want to do this or it doesn’t happen… At this point, no one has a carrot or a stick to use on anyone else. If it comes together, it’ll all be completely consensual.”

Faith No More debuted two new songs live (below) in July as part of British Summer Time Festival in London’s Hyde Park. Fans have named the tracks Leader Of Men and Motherfucker. The group also teased new music when they officially joined Twitter in May this year, tweeting, “The reunion thing was fun, but now it’s time to get a little creative.”

Faith No More made their highly-anticipated comeback in June 2009, but Mike Patton later revealed that the reunion “petered out”. The band’s next performances are planned for Soundwave 2015, with no other dates currently set. Unfortunately, Faith No More will not be performing any sideshows during their Australian tour.
