Laneway Festival 2015 Dates And Venues Announced

UPDATE 02/10/14: The Laneway Festival 2015 lineup has been revealed!

The organisers of St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2015 have announced the dates, venues, and lineup announcement date for the next instalment of Australia’s favourite showcase of up-and-coming music talent. The good Laneway folks have confirmed the full lineup will drop 9am Thursday, 2nd October.

Now moving into its 11th year as a staple of the Australian festival scene, organisers have confirmed next year’s festivities will kick off with the return of the five-year-old Singapore event, before moving onto Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne, before concluding in Fremantle.

Though organisers are still committed to providing punters with the best urban music experience in Australia, complete with an “A+ lineup”, they have announced a few changes. Next year’s Brisbane and Adelaide events will be open to punters aged 16 years and up, with Brisbane set to enjoy a new and more spacious part of the famed RNA Showgrounds. Sydney, Melbourne, and Fremantle will remain 18+.

Organisers have also confirmed that the Brisbane festival will be held on a Saturday for the first time in six years. Despite some troubles last year, the Sydney event will return to SCA in Rozelle, though organisers stress that this is subject to DA approval. This year’s addition of two main stages to the area’s natural amphitheatre also looks set to carry over into the 2015 festival.

Punters and organisers alike were also happy with this year’s move from Perth to Fremantle’s historic West End and Esplanade Reserve and organisers have opted to keep the changes in place for the 2015 event. The area’s “free flowing space” is set to provide the perfect summer festival atmosphere.

Lineup rumours are already heating up, with one act said to be confirmed already. Back in July, News Corp journalist Mikey Cahill tweeted that critically acclaimed UK electronic artist FKA Twigs “will play” the event. Cahill said a January/February Australian tour from the arist was pending confirmation.

Meanwhile, other artists that have put themselves in the running for a spot include rising electronic star Banks, who appeared on the festival’s SXSW showcase and told Music Feeds that an early 2015 tour is “in the works”. Rapper Vic Mensa has also confirmed tour plans for “the top of next year“.

Music Feeds will have the full St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2015 lineup right here when it arrives on Thursday, 2nd October. Readers can check below for all the newly announced dates and venue details and stay up to date with all of the Laneway 2015 news over on our special Feed – get it here!
