Miley Cyrus has continued her journey through the history of rock and roll, recently unveiling a cover of Led Zeppelin‘s rendition of the folk classic Babe I’m Gonna Leave You from their seminal 1969 self-titled debut album, originally penned by folk singer Anne Bredon and famously covered by Joan Baez.

While the pop sensation refers to the track as Baby, I’m Gonna Leave You, this could just be an extension of Cyrus’ desire to make the track her own. The singer certainly has a good go at it, channeling Robert Plant‘s soaring howl and nailing the tune’s dramatic loud-quiet-loud changes in dynamic.

The surprise cover is the latest instalment in Cyrus’ exploration of rock and roll history, which started with the singer’s collaboration with The Flaming Lips on a Beatles cover project. Cyrus also referenced the controversy stirred by Elvis Presley during a recent interview, depicting him as the first “twerker”.

Earlier this week, Cyrus took to her Instagram channel to announce plans to try her hand at a cover of Leonard Cohen‘s classic 1988 tune I’m Your Man. As is the case with the stirring Led Zeppelin cover, which readers can check out below, it’s unclear if the Cohen cover is tied to a larger project.
