The John Butler Trio have been forced to postpone most of their upcoming Queensland shows due to an injury bassist Byron Luiters sustained during some time off in New Zealand. The headline John Butler Trio shows set for this October in Queensland are postponed until March 2015.
“Bass player Byron Luiters broke his wrist whilst recently snowboarding during some rare time off in New Zealand. He now has weeks of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of him,” reads a statement from the band posted to their Facebook page.
Due to these circumstances John Butler will now be performing solo at this year’s Caloundra Music Festival October on Saturday, 4th October, but will take the earlier 6pm time slot rather than the headlining performance.
Replacing John Butler Trio as headliner will be Megan Washington, who is fresh off the release of her latest album There There. According to the band, Luiters will be fit to perform with John Butler Trio at Falls Festival and Southbound later this year.
The band have also announced a new opening act for their rescheduled tour dates, with We Two Thieves, the side project for both Mama Kin and Emily Lubitz from Tinpan Orange set to take the stage this coming March with a set of soulful folk tunes from their debut album At Midnight We Ride out in October.
All tickets for John Butler Trio’s October tour dates will be automatically valid for the new March dates, which you’ll find below. New tickets are on sale now and any refunds will be available from the original ticket outlets. Refunds are not available for Caloundra Festival tickets.
