Johnny Marr 2015 Australian Tour Announced

Johnny Marr, founding member of British icons The Smiths, has announced an Australian summer tour in 2015 in support of his second solo album Playland.

After appearances at Falls Festival and sold-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne earlier this year, Marr will also play Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane on this trip, his first time playing as a solo artist in those cities.

During his 2015 tour, Marr combine solo material with tunes from his extensive back catalogue, including tracks performed by The Smiths. In celebration of the tour, every ticket buyer has the opportunity to win a Johnny Marr signature Fender Jaguar guitar, valued at $3,500. Entry details can be found at the Frontier Touring website.

Playland, which Marr began writing shortly after releasing his 2013 album The Messenger, is set for release on 3rd October. “…I kept on writing. I liked that the band had a momentum going on tour and a connection with the audience, and I thought that energy would be good to capture on the new record,” Marr has said of the album’s creation.

Johnny Marr’s 2015 Australian tour begins in Perth on Thursday, 29th January, and concludes with an all-ages show in Sydney on Thursday, 5th February. Full tour and ticket details are available below.

UPDATE 28/01/15: Johnny Marr has unveiled a round of new dates for his impending Australian tour after the first ones were postponed due to an ongoing family illness. Marr unfortunately was forced to can his stopover in Brisbane, after his February 4th gig at the Tivoli was unable to be rescheduled. See the updated dates below
