Security Guard At Listen Out Sydney Trampled, Hospitalised

A 29-year-old security guard has been hospitalised with internal bleeding and a ruptured spleen after being trampled at Listen Out festival in Sydney yesterday, Saturday, 27th September.

The ABC reports the incident occurred at approximately 4:40pm (AEST), at Randwick’s Centennial Park.

According to a police statement, the security guard was responding to a group of fencejumpers who “broke their way through a fence and into the festival”. During the incident the guard fell and “a person landed heavily on his abdomen”.

The guard walked to a nearby stage before collapsing. He was treated by paramedics and transported to St Vincent’s Hospital. At the time of the statement the security guard remained in hospital but is, fortunately, in a stable condition.

Police of the Eastern Beaches Local Area Command have been on the lookout for a man they believe can help them with their enquiries. He’s aged in his late teens to mid 20s, short dark-brown hair, and was wearing red shorts and a grey t-shirt. UPDATE 29/09/14: Footage has surfaced online depicting a mass of gate-crashers at Listen Out Sydney on Saturday. In the clip, a group of punters run towards the perimeter fencing at Centennial Park and begin jumping over as security attempt to stop them. However, it’s not clear if the footage depicts the incident which caused injury to the 29-year-old security guard.
