Laneway Festival 2015 Lineup

After months of eager waiting and a few nights of nail-bitting sleeplessness, the lineup for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2015 has finally arrived, meaning now fans only have to worry about getting tickets. This year’s lineup is topped by the likes of St Vincent, Flying Lotus, Mac DeMarco, and FKA Twigs.

Organisers confirmed Mac DeMarco’s attendance last month during a panel discussion at this year’s BIGSOUND music conference in Brisbane. Festival co-founders Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio revealed that DeMarco would be attending with his mother, Agnes, who will reportedly emcee the event.

Several names were apparently unveiled early courtesy of The New Zealand Herald. In their sneak peek this morning, the paper confirmed appearances from recent visitors Jungle, Scandinavian favourite Lykke Li, the always lively Future Islands, our very own Courtney Barnett, and ferocious UK duo Royal Blood.

California native and current reining queen of the blogosphere Banks was just short of giving Music Feeds the exclusive when she spoke to us back in August. While the acclaimed singer-songwriter wouldn’t confirm a Laneway Festival appearance, she hinted at a tour “in the works for early next year”.

Other acts strongly rumoured for the 2015 Laneway lineup included FKA Twigs, whom News Corp journalist Mikey Cahill claimed “will play” the festival, rapper Vic Mensa, who previously confirmed tour plans for “the top of next year”, and SXSW Showcase alumni Eagulls.

The dates and venues for next year’s festival were announced early last month, marking a few changes to the way Laneway Festival is run. For starters, next year’s Brisbane and Adelaide events will be open to punters aged 16 years and up, with revellers in Brisbane set to enjoy a new and more spacious part of the famous RNA Showgrounds. Meanwhile, Sydney, Melbourne, and Fremantle will remain 18+ events.

Some changes introduced during this year’s event will also be carried over into 2015, including the addition of two main stages to the festival’s Sydney leg, though the SCA venue in Rozelle is still subject to DA approval. The WA leg will also be returning to Fremantle’s West End and Esplanade Reserve.
