First Act For Sugar Mountain 2015 Lineup Confirmed

Experimental LA-based musician Ariel Pink is the first act to be officially confirmed for the Sugar Mountain Festival 2015 lineup. The full lineup for the Melbourne festival will be unveiled alongside details of a new venue on Tuesday, 20th October.

Sugar Mountain organisers have taken to Facebook to share the good news with hopeful festival-goers, noting that Ariel Pink will be joined by his seven-piece band when he arrives down under for the event in January. Ariel Pink has also revealed the news to fans via Facebook, adding, “See you in January, Melbourne!”

It was announced in July that Sugar Mountain Festival will return in 2015 but will move to the date usually reserved for the Big Day Out in Melbourne. A 2014 instalment of Sugar Mountain Festival was teased by organisers, but has not eventuated.

Previous Sugar Mountain line-ups have included acts such as Action Bronson, Dirty Projectors, Peanut Butter Wolf, Deerhoof and Tune-Yards. The boutique festival has called The Forum Theatre home in recent years, but will be moving to a new venue in 2015.

Ariel Pink’s latest solo album, Pom Pom, is set for release in Australia on Friday, 14th November. Watch the music video for album cut Put Your Number In My Phone, below.
