Melbourne’s progressive music and arts festival, Sugar Mountain, has announced its brand new venue and 2015 lineup, revealing Nas, ODESZA and more will be joining already confirmed acts Ariel Pink and Midnight Juggernauts at the January event.
Headlining the event will be groundbreaking MC Nas, who will take to the Sugar Mountain stage to perform his magnum opus, Illmatic, in its entirety. Also included on the bill are Body/Head, a collaboration between Bill Nace and Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon, as well as glitchy electronic duo ODESZA, NYC noise icons Swans, Baltimore composer Dan Deacon, Soul Clap, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Tom Krell aka How To Dress Well.
In 2015, after three successful instalments at The Forum, Sugar Mountain will move to Melbourne’s creative hub the Victorian College of the Arts in Southbank, making it a five-stage affair, comprising of three outdoor and two indoor stages.
The festival will also take advantage of indoor spaces and a solid lineup of visual artists, to couple influential and experimental music with forward-thinking art installations.
Sugar Mountain 2015 will take place at Melbourne’s Victorian College Of The Arts in January, with capacity capped at 5,500 tickets. Said tickets will go on sale Monday, 20th October, and cheaper early bird tickets will be available.
