NSW Police are renewing their appeal for public assistance after a security guard was seriously injured when he was trampled at Listen Out festival in Sydney in September. Today they are renewing their appeal for information in an effort to identify those involved.
The 29-year-old security guard was left with a ruptured spleen and suffered internal bleeding after he was trampled by a horde of gate-crashers rushing the fence at the Listen Out 2014 festival at Randwick on September 27th. He is reportedly still receiving medical treatment.
Gate-crashing has become a concern for many festivals in recent years. In March this year, fence-jumpers at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami left a 28-year-old female security guard with life-threatening injuries.
Soon after news of the Listen Out incident broke, mobile phone footage surfaced online depicting a mass of gate-crashers running towards the perimeter fencing at Centennial Park and jumping over it as security attempt to stop them.
It was not clear initially if the footage depicted the incident which caused injury to the 29-year-old security guard, but now police have reissued the footage, via the ABC, and are hoping to speak with a male who is featured in the video who they believe can assist with the investigation.
“The male shown in the footage is believe to be of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid to late teens, approximately 183cm tall and with solid build,” a statement said. “In the footage the teen is wearing a long-sleeved green shirt or jumper, black shorts and black shoes.”
