Woodford Folk Festival 2014-2015 Lineup

Woodford Folk Festival have announced their New Year’s 2014 lineup and it’s another huge one. Over 400 acts, across 35 performance venues, over six days and nights, with highlights including Violent Femmes, guitar annihilators Sticky Fingers and recent Music Feeds LIVE performers Husky.

Lior, Hiatus Kaiyote, Bertie Blackman, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Cairos, Mia Dyson, and The Cat Empire are just a small sample of the quality Australian talent set to play Woodford, amongst international acts like Canadian folk musicians The East Pointers, Scotish celtic fusion band Shooglenifty, and England’s John Smith.

Other notable performers on hand include Indigenous star Uncle Jack Charles on Woodford’s First Nations programme and former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke heading the Talks programme.

Each year over six days and nights, the Woodford Folk Festival brings diverse acts, including dance, theatre, comedy, film, street performances, visual arts and indigenous performances.

Just last month organisers announced the theme for this year’s event, calling on punters to explore the duality of life and their own existence through the expressions of the Mask. Set to kick off on Saturday, 27th December in South East Queensland, the festival hopes to feature a carnival of masked creatures and characters in the spirit of adventure, mystery and discovery.

As is the tradition, the Woodford Folk Festival event poster was also unveiled, revealing that artist Gavin Ryan was once again commissioned to bring the Mask theme to a full visual expression.

The poster’s female hero, Tilda, will be brought to life through the construction of a giant masked puppet girl, who will stand 6 metres high and will tour the Sunshine Coast in December. “She is going on the journey to find freedom and in her story perhaps we’ll see a part of ourselves,” explained Festival Director Bill Hauritz. “She’s our journeywoman, our dancing dreamer, waltzing wanderer.”

Woodford Folk Festival 2014-2015 takes place from Saturday, 27th December 2014 to Tuesday, 1st January 2015. Lineup highlights and date details are below. You can check out the complete Woodford Folk Festival 2014-2015 programme here. Tickets for Woodford are on sale now.
