Pond Announce New Album ‘Man It Feels Like Space Again’, Share New Video

Perth psych rock outfit Pond have announced they will be releasing their highly anticipated sixth album, Man It Feels Like Space Again in January 2015 and in celebration, the band are sharing the video of its first single Elvis’ Flaming Star.

The new record, described as “a sweeping collection of warm, warped psychedelic gems”, will arrive on Friday, 23rd January 2015, just in time for Pond’s appearance at the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2015.

Its songs bear titles such as Heroic Shart and Zond and are said to be inspired by the works of The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, mid-’70s John Lennon, MGMT, Todd Rundgren, Supergrass and a number of “genre-hopping sonic/space-explorers.”

Pond released their latest album Hobo Rocket in August 2013 and since then band members have been busy releasing their own solo and side project material. Pond’s Joseph Ryan and Jay Watson released their full-length solo debuts under the monikers Shiny Joe Ryan GUM (Jay Watson), while frontman Nicholas Allbrook unveiled his debut solo record Ganough, Wallis And Fatuna.

Man It Feels Like Space Again will arrive on January 23rd, but you can watch the video for the album’s first single Elvis’ Flaming Star below. According to the band, the video was shot using three iPhones, “six cans of silly string with three silly string assault rifles” plus water balloons, fake flowers, Christmas lights and “2 much dumb shit to count really”.
