SOHN has been a busy lad of late. Since dropping his debut album Tremors back in April it’s been all go for the UK musician and producer. Managing to find a spare few minutes while in LA, SOHN, real name Chris Taylor, filled Music Feeds’ Mike Hohnen in on his hectic schedule.
“It’s been pretty nuts, man.” exclaims SOHN. “I think the main thing is that the amount of touring that I’ve done, probably since March, has been really insane. I don’t think I’ve been anywhere for more than a week and half since March.”
SOHN’s increased demand doesn’t mean he’s lost sight of the benefits of being a popular, professional musicians. Having seen much of the world in just one year, Taylor is thankful that things have become so busy.
“It’s easy to forget because, to an extent, you are working when you’re going around the world and playing shows,” SOHN admits. “But of course it’s not work, it’s like an amazing privilege to be able to do such a thing.”
Having played a couple of Australian club shows in June, SOHN will return in less than a year as part of Laneway Festival 2015, in addition to two sideshow dates. On his first visit to Aus, SOHN says he was “so surprised” that that his music spread so far so quickly. “It was such a good turnout … that was just a massive shock to me.”
Now that SOHN and his team have “solidified the live set to be very compact and punchy”, Taylor is ready for Laneway. Although he says he doesn’t know much about the festival he gets the impression he’s in for a good time.
“All I know is that every single musician that I’ve spoken to, who’s done it, have all been massively jealous when they knew that I was doing it,” SOHN tells us. “It seems like it’s like a kind of a summer camp vibe for the bands.”
