Foo Fighters Announce 20th Anniversary Concert With All-Star Lineup

While Dave Grohl recently asserted that Foo Fighters won’t be celebrating their 20th anniversary with a string of “presumptuous” and “lazy” tours playing their old albums in full, that does not mean they’re not going to celebrate at all. In fact, today they’ve announced an epic birthday concert, which will include some very special guests.

The Foo Fighters 20th anniversary bash will be held in, of course, Washington D.C. on July 4th, 2015 and will feature an all-star guest roster, many of whom contributed to Foo Fighters’ latest album, Sonic Highways and appear in the documentary series of the same name.

The all-star lineup includes the likes of blues legend Buddy Guy, Seattle rockers Heart, rock legend Joan Jett, New York rapper LL Cool J, New Orleans icon Trombone Shorty, bluesy guitarist Gary Clark Jr plus DJ Z-Trip, and D.C.’s go-go heroes Trouble Funk.

The birthday concert is billed as the group’s “biggest U.S. headline engagement to date,” and the all-American, independence day show will also feature a BBQ, motorcycle rally and a fireworks display.

Fans who won’t be able to head over to the the States for the all-star jam can be consoled by the the fact that the Foos will be touring Australia and New Zealand in February and March next year.

Foo Fighters’ new album Sonic Highways is due out Monday, 10th November.
