Lorde’s ‘Flicker (Kanye West Rework)’ Has Landed

The official Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1 soundtrack, curated by 18-year-old Lorde, is due to drop in just a week, and in anticipation today Kanye West‘s contribution to the project has premiered, in the form of a rework of Lorde‘s Yellow Flicker Beat.

While Yeezus doesn’t add any vocals to the rework, his production savvy can be felt all over it. The song is slowed down significantly, as faint chants, slow echoing beats and menacing keys are layered over the original track. Tune in for some Black Skinhead vocal distortion as well.

Speaking recently to Rolling Stone about putting the soundtrack together, Lorde gave very little away as to just how she and Kanye West worked together, after years of declaring their mutual admiration for each other. “He’s so private I feel weird talking about how he does stuff,” she told the publication. “I feel lucky to even be in a room with him.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack is due to be released on Friday, 14th November. It also features contributions from Bat for Lashes, The Chemical Brothers, Major Lazer, Raury as well as Pusha T, Q-Tip, Haim, Chvrches and Miguel.
