Watch Foo Fighters, Perry Farrell Cover Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Mountain Song’

As has been the tradition for the past few weeks, following the screening of the the Los Angeles episode of their Sonic Highways documentary series, Foo Fighters took to an intimate club stage in the same city and were joined on stage by two iconic rockers – Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell and The Eagles’ Joe Walsh.

The legendary rockers joined the band on stage for a rendition of Jane’s Addiction’s Mountain Song, taken from 1988’s Nothing’s Shocking, with Farrell taking the reigns on the vocals and Walsh shredding on guitar.

Walsh had in fact appeared in the latest Sonic Highways episode where he talked about his impressions of the Los Angeles music scene and entered the Rancho De La Luna studio, in the Joshua Tree desert, with the band for the Sonic Highways track Outside.

“I tell you what, that was a bitch to figure out,” Walsh told Rolling Stone about working on the track. “Some songs, you’re just on automatic pilot and you cruise through ’em, but that one, I had to really pay attention to what was going on.”

Foo Fighters have been busting out club shows across the US in suuport of their latest studio album and documentary series. In a recent interview, Dave Grohl said he doesn’t “fucking care” if you use streaming services like Spotify to listen to any of his music and wants to bring the focus back to the live performance.

“You want people to fucking listen to your music? Give them your music. And then go play a show,” he said. “They like hearing your music? They’ll go see a show. To me it’s that simple, and I think it used to work that way.”

Australian fans will have their chance to heed the frontman’s words when both the Foos and The Eagles tour Australia in 2015. If you need further convincing, watch fan shot footage of the Mountain Song cover below.
