Augie March Announce Sydney Opera House Debut

Augie March will make their Sydney Opera House debut on Australia Day eve, backed by an expanded ensemble and their fifth studio album, Havens Dumb. The group’s one-off performance will follow a number of comeback shows earlier in the year, which saw the band return from a five-year hiatus.

One of the country’s most revered acts, Augie March performed five shows in their hometown of Melbourne in October and November, playing only a few streets away from the Brunswick venue where they first shared their talents. The comeback shows were originally meant to be a comeback show, but it was clearly difficult to keep up with demand.

Luckily, Augie March have chosen the Opera House’s Concert Hall for their forthcoming Sydney performance. The venue is sure to put the group’s catalogue and the poetic lyrics of frontman Glenn Richards on full display.

Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at Sydney Opera House, says, “Augie March have remained one of Australia’s most compelling literary pop bands and we are thrilled they’ve returned in such fine style with Havens Dumb.”

Before their Opera House show, Augie March will play MONA FOMA’s New Year’s Sideshow in Tassie. The band will perform at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday, 25th January 2015, and will be joined by The Arnold Horns. Show and ticket details are available below.

UPDATE 26/11/14: Augie March have announced another show to take place at Melbourne’s Recital Centre in April 2015.
