Michael Franti & Spearhead Add Perth Bluesfest 2015 Sideshow

Michael Franti & Spearhead have added a Perth stop to their run of Bluesfest 2015 sideshows. The group, led by the poet, philanthropist and composer Franti will play a show at Red Hill Auditorium next April alongside special guests, Blue King Brown, and Tijuana Cartel.

Franti’s powerful music is sure to come to life in the Red Hill Auditorium setting, which neighbours the John Forest National Park and overlooks the Perth city sky line. The show will take place on Saturday April 18th 2015.

Joining Franti and Spearhead will be Byron Bay locals Blue King Brown, who will be showing off songs from their long awaited brand new album, Born Free, recorded at the iconic Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica, founded by Bob Marley.

Also on the lineup is Gold Coast outfit Tijuana Cartel who will be promoting their recently released 24 Bit Guitar Orchestra album on the West Coast for the first time in 2014. Patrons will have the option to buy shuttle bus tickets and enjoy a drink before and after the show at their local. See the Red Hill Auditorium website for bus times.

Michael Franti & Spearhead will play a number of other Bluesfest 2015 sideshows next year, including stops in Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane and Cairns. Franti will also bring his Soulshine music and yoga-infused mini-festival, which also features SOJA and singer-songwriter Trevor Hall, to Bluesfest 2015 as well as venues in Melbourne and Sydney.

UPDATE 11/12/14: Surfer-singer-songwriter, Donavon Frankenreiter has now been added to the Red Hill stage lineup, making his first return to Australia since his massive 2013 tour. See updated set times below.
