Police Put Creed Frotman Scott Stapp On Psychiatric Hold

In the days before he posted a 15-minute video to social media claiming he was completely broke and living in a Holiday Inn, Creed frontman Scott Stapp was reportedly placed on psychiatric hold by Florida police.

According to a Madison County Florida Sheriff’s Dept. report obtained by TMZ, on November 13th police found Stapp on the side of a road where he appeared “wasted, incoherent” and believed that someone was trying to poison him. They then placed him on a 72-hour psych hold.

This week Stapp posted a video to the Creed Facebook page titled “Scott Stapp of Creed, Public Statement #1″ where he speaks to camera recounting a series of events which he says have left him “completely penniless”, claiming that the IRS has frozen his bank and that he sometimes goes days without food. The video has since been removed.

According to the Miami Herald, Stapp’s wife of eight years, Jaclyn Stapp, recently filed for divorce and provided text messages she says she received from the singer while he was on an alleged drug binge last month.

Jaclyn Stapp claims her husband disappeared from their home in early October and hasn’t told her his location. She also says his excessive use of amphetamines, crystal meth and steroids has made him paranoid and he has threatened to kill himself and harm his family.

One such text message allegedly sent by Scott Stapp to his wife reads, “Florida is not safe. Biological weapons on the way. U have to leave with kids and meet me in Atlanta.” Another says, “I’m coming to get you Satan and children. No mercy. You know how this ends. God created you and now God is ending you.”

Additionally, Jaclyn Stapp reportedly filed a petition earlier this month hoping to force her husband treatment for mental illness and drug abuse. She has since allegedly decided to drop the petition, hoping instead to help him personally.
