Due to continued demand, seminal New York MC Nas has added an Adelaide show to his forthcoming Illmatic Australian tour, as well as a second Sydney show at the city’s Enmore Theatre.
The tour sees the MC return to Australia to headline Sugar Mountain Festival in January, with his only Melbourne sideshow at the Forum Theatre now also sold out — in only 10 minutes, in fact.
Throughout his Illmatic tour, Nas will be performing his 1994 album of the same name, in its entirety, as well as a variety of other Nas classics. To coincide with the tour, the critically acclaimed documentary Time is Illmatic will be released in Australia next year. The film looks into the genesis of the album, as well as the circumstances which led Nas to produce one of the world’s most lauded rap records.
Nas’ Adelaide performance will take place at HQ Complex on Thursday, 29th January 2015, while his second Sydney show will be on Thursday, 22nd January. Updated tour and ticket details are available below.
UPDATE 18/12/14: Nas has updated the venue for his Adelaide show, moving it from the HQ to the larger Thebarton Theatre on the same night. Tickets already purchased for the original venue will be valid and the show is now a licensed, all ages affair. Full details below.
Additionally, Dusk, the project of acclaimed Aussie actress Abbie Cornish, has been announced as Nas’ national support act. Dusk is preparing her debut solo album for release in 2015.
