Jack White Launches Virtual Reality App ‘THIRD-D’

As a known connoisseur of all things nostalgic, Jack White doesn’t seem the most likely candidate for releasing a virtual reality app that allows you to remotely view his live concerts in an immersive 3D experience. And yet that’s exactly what he’s gone and done.

Fans will be able to experience White in all his virtual glory with the Third-D app, which will show some of his live performances in “immersive 360 degree, stereoscopic 3D” using Google Cardboard, a virtual reality player that’s compatible with Android phones. Which does actually sound very Jack White-esque if you consider he is the same man who brought holograms to vinyl.

Currently available performances include Freedom at 21 and Ball and Biscuit from his recent Fenway Park show, as well as Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, from his Red Rocks show. The app can be downloaded now, for those who already have a Google Cardboard player on hand.

For those without said headset, according to Third Man Records, the app is also capable of showing 2D video on its own or for those DIY-inclined they have pointed towards instructions on how to build a Cardboard headset out of everyday household items.
