James Murphy To Release Remixes Album Made With “Tennis Data”

Former LCD Soundsystem leader James Murphy has released another taste of his tennis themed music project with a snippet of the track, Match 176, taken from his forthcoming release Remixes Made With Tennis Data, due this Friday, 19th December.

Earlier this year Murphy announced he and IBM were collaboratively working on almost “400 hours” of new music, made from raw data collated at U.S. Open tennis matches. Using an algorithm and a synth-like interface they turned the data into music, resulting in the aptly named Remixes Made With Tennis Data.

“It’s a hard project, actually, [which] is kind of exciting,” said Murphy during an earlier promotional video for the project. “We’re going to generate almost 400 hours worth of music, but I’m not going to sit there and play 400 hours of music, just so you know. I’m setting up a machine to do that.”
