Falls Festival Byron Bay Death Being Investigated By Police

Police have confirmed they are investigating the death of a man at the Byron Bay leg of Falls Festival.

According to News Corp, police confirmed a 26-year-old Brisbane man was found dead around 7:30am at a campsite in the North Byron Parklands, the location of the festival. It is believed the campsite was part of the festival’s camping. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Inspector Darren Steel of Tweed Byron Police told News Corp the deceased was unconscious and not breathing when he was found by friends, and ambulance attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. Police have not determined a cause of death and a post mortem will now be conducted. Police are still interviewing witnesses to prepare a brief for the coroner.

We have contacted Falls Festival representatives for comment. The 2015 edition of the festival’s Byron Bay event kicked off yesterday, 30th December, and continues through to 3rd January.
