Wax Witches Announce Free One-Off Sydney Gig

Wax Witches, the solo punk project for Bleeding Knees Club frontman Alex Wall, has announced a one-off, free Sydney show this month before he jets off for tours across Europe and the United States.

Wax Witches will play the free gig at The Lansdowne in Sydney on Friday, 16th January with special guests Big White and Cody Munro Moore. The show comes just a month after Wax Witches premiered the film clip for Twenty Seven from last year’s Centre Of Your Universe album.

The track is Wall’s ode to the infamous 27 Club. “It’s about wanting to die and exit the planet, because you don’t feel like you fit in, and wanting to leave everything behind and just go live with the stars. Like Cobain, Hendrix and Morrison,” explains Wall.

“The chorus kind of fights with the verses, by saying, ‘Too young to go to heaven’, which is much like the arguments that go on in your head.” The film clip was shot recently in Oxford, Mississippi and was directed and edited by Alex Wall himself.

Following his free Sydney gig, Wax Witches will head to Europe for a packed February tour, playing 22 shows in 24 days, and will return to the USA in March for an appearance at Burger Records’ Burgerama Four festival alongside acts like Weezer, Ty Segall and Fidlar.
