Here’s Proof Metallica Are Working On Their Next Record

There’s now even more proof that heavy metal icons Metallica are currently recording their next studio album, the follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic.

A picture of Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo in the studio (below) was posted to the official Metallica Instagram account on the weekend, with the caption, “Rockin along…”, and it was just enough of a tease to get fans all giddy.

In April 2014, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said the band were “deep into songwriting” for their next album. In a recent interview with Rock Cellar, Trujillo has said the band are still hard at work.

“There are a lot of ideas, a lot of song bodies, you gotta go through the process,” Trujillo said. “For me personally I’m really excited about what we’ve been able to jam out. I don’t like to make predictions, but I’d like to think – at least for me – that I’m really happy with what’s happening instrumentally.”

Since Death Magnetic, Metallica have released Lulu – a collaborative album with the late Lou Reed – and have been named as headliners for Reading & Leeds 2015.

The group also debuted a new song titled Lords of Summer live in Colombia last year, and later released the track’s garage demo, which can be streamed below.
