Prior to their set at Laneway Festival this weekend, Sydney three piece Mansionair stopped by triple j studio for Like A Version and delivered an ambient, down-tempo cover of one of 2014’s most loved songs Seasons (Waiting On You) by Baltimore’s Future Islands.
The Sydney outfit slowed down the Future Islands favourite, which recently nabbed #23 on the triple j Hottest 100, infusing the melody with their signature ambient-R’n’B sound led by vocalist Jack Froggatt’s floating vocals.
Mansionair also delighted listeners with a performance of their original track Hold Me Down while in the triple j studio. This track has been a fan favourite since it peaked at #1 on Hype Machine after surfacing on the internet early last year.
Mansionair will play the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival when it kicks off in Brisbane this Saturday. They’re also amongst the large Australian contingent heading to South by Southwest this year, along with the likes of Courtney Barnett, Hiatus Kaiyote, Gang Of Youths and more.
