Mark Ronson Wants To Come Back To Australia, Maybe For Splendour

British producer Mark Ronson has indicated that he would love to return to Australia with his full show and addressed Splendour In The Grass rumours in an interview with triple j’s Matt and Alex

Talking to the pair on triple j’s morning show, Ronson responded to the question of whether he would be here for the festival saying, “I can neither confirm nor deny any of these rumours. If I can figure out a great show, I’m going to be here – that’s what I know for sure.”

Splendour’s promoter Secret Sounds were behind Ronson’s show last night at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory meaning that we can start to make some educated guesses about the likeliness of an appearance down under in July.

We’ll have to wait and see whether or not he appears on the Splendour bill but regardless Ronson wants to return to Australia. “I would love to come back but I need to figure out in my head what the show looks like”, he said.

Ronson’s new album Uptown Special features collaborations with Australia’s own Kevin Parker from Tame Impala who lends vocals to three songs. Joking about how he was going to bring the live show to life Ronson said, “I just blew 300 grand on a Kevin Parker hologram, so I hope this thing works”.

It seems the Brit is developing a thing for Aussie vocalists as he told triple j he’s due to meet with Isabella Manfredi from The Preatures this week. “I was digging their stuff”, he said, “I heard it actually [through] my cousin, who lives in London. He works at Universal and was like ‘yeah you should meet this band while you’re out there.'”

If you couldn’t make it along to his shows in Sydney this week not to worry. Ronson will be behind the decks for the ‘Friday Mix with Lewy McKirdy’ on triple j this week, where he may just play some never-before-heard tracks. You can check out the full interview with Matt and Alex below.
