Columbus Join The Soundwave 2015 Brisbane Lineup

The final winner of triple j Unearthed’s Soundwave competition has been revealed, with Brisbane three-piece Columbus set to open the main stage of Soundwave 2015 in their home city.

Columbus are a three-piece who have been smashing out emotional punk tunes across three EPs over the last couple of years. According to their triple j Unearthed profile, Columbus’ Alex Moses (guitar/vocals), Bey Paynter (bass) and Daniel Seymour (drums) are looking to hit the road hard with their new music in 2015, and a coveted slot at Soundwave is sure to get them off to a great start.

“Expect lots of yelling, sad facial expressions and all the punk feels,” the band say.

Columbus’ latest release, the Home Remedy EP, is available to download for free via Bandcamp. Catch the EP’s title track in full, below. Columbus’ two other EP’s are 2014’s split EP with Alex The Kid, and their self-released 2013 EP Sad Songs And Sing-Alongs.

Columbus hit Soundwave Brisbane at 12:20pm on Saturday, 28th February, on the same stage which will be graced by the likes of Slipknot and Smashing Pumpkins, according to the latest Soundwave 2015 timetables.

The other previously announced winners of this year’s triple j Unearthed Soundwave competition are South Australia’s A Ghost Orchestra, Victorians I, Valiance and Sydneysiders Bare Bones.
